4 out of 5 stars Nice replacement fan - good price and easy installation!   June 29, 2010
Brian
This fan replaced the original Dell Dimension 8100 fan that had been very loud and needing replaced for over a year now. Dell doesn't carry fans for this unit any longer.

It took 10 minutes to install - from the time I opened my case and installed the fan until the system was rebooted, so an easy install.

I cut all 3 wires (red, white and black) leading to the OEM fan and spliced the white wire with this new fans' white wire, then plugged the old connector back into the same spot in the motherboard. Then simply attached the power connector to an open power connector in the system, coming from one of the cd drives. No problems.

I use my fan on the medium setting to slightly reduce the sound. Sound from the fan is okay, pretty quite, although I'm sure some of the more expensive fans could be more quiet.

Overall, good product and would highly recommend for users of older Dell desktops. Would be a '5' rating if a bit more quiet.

3 out of 5 stars I need more speed   June 3, 2010

I would prefer more speed. For normal operation, it's ok. For hard work, it's weak.

5 out of 5 stars Great Replacement Fan for Dell Dimension 8250   April 3, 2010
Howard Ditkoff (Detroit, MI)
I bought this fan to replace a very noisy one in a Dell Dimension 8250. I used the instructions of some of the other reviewers here and it worked great. Much quieter and just as much, if not more, airflow as before.

5 out of 5 stars Cheap, quiet, easy to install   January 24, 2010

I purchased this item for our ~3-year old HP Pavilion a1730n. The HP store wanted to sell me something for ~$50; ~$11 sounds better to me. It was an easy install (no instructions, but it's pretty obvious how it goes into the case). The fan runs whisper quiet.

One thing about my motherboard: the BIOS doesn't seem to have any fan settings in it, so the three-pin connector actually didn't work for me. That said, the 4-pin power and the speed adjuster work great.

4 out of 5 stars Very good fans   January 24, 2010
Hi Tech Guy (MD, USA)
I purchased two of these fans for a small form factor computer. My computer's original PWM fans are loud and do not provide good airflow. When set to the slowest speed setting (factory default), these non-PWM Antec fans provide much better airflow. I can still hear them whooshing in the background, but they are much quieter and lack the mechanical buzzy noise of my original PWM fans. I rate these Antec fans as four stars simply because they are somewhat audible from four to six feet away at the slowest setting. Otherwise, I think these Antec fans are well worth the money, provide a lot of airflow even at the slowest setting, and offer a big improvement over most stock fans (PWM or not). I would purchase them again.
