Well Designed, Great Connectivity March 9, 2010 M. Akiva (USA) Let me preface this review by saying that I use this product in my office with a laptop. I am running Windows Vista and the keyboard and mouse are about 2 to 3 feet away from the USB receiver.
KEYBOARD
The keyboard layout is as you would expect. I know with some keyboards, manufacturers will often times move keys around, or make them smaller, in order to fit everything in. However, with the exception of one key, this keyboard is as you would expect it to be. The only key that is in a different position is the delete key, which is extended vertically in order to take up more space. I don't find this to be a bad thing though because I constantly use that key and like to have easy access to it.
In terms of sound and touch, the keyboard gets 5 stars. The touch is soft and the keys are even softer. This is a definite benefit to me because I type when I'm on the phone and with this keyboard, no one can hear it.
MOUSE
The mouse is solidly designed and sturdy. With only three buttons, it's functionality is a little more limited than other mice out there (i.e. those that have buttons on the side for back and forward browsing functions). However, the scroll wheel and the right and left mouse buttons on this mouse are all very responsive.
CONNECTIVITY
As I said before, the USB receiver is about 2 to 3 feet away from the keyboard and mouse. So if you are looking for a review of this product's distance, this is not the right review. However, for my use, I have yet to see any lags between typing or clicking and what I see on the screen. The response time is instantaneous.
The only downside of this, is that it requires a USB receiver, which is about 2" wide by 3" long. It's not large, but I certainly didn't know that this was going to be in the box. I was expecting a receiver the size of a USB key.
SETUP
I just plugged the receiver in and the drivers were automatically installed.
OVERALL
This product is a great choice in the low-cost wireless desktop market. If you were like me and looked around at many different keyboard and mouse combos, this is the best out there.
good value March 8, 2010 Bonnie Lee (Tucson, AZ) I've bought and used many wireless keyboard/mouse systems over the years -- typically going for the high-end. They all quit working well in the end, so this time I went for the bargain package. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but I rarely used those add-ons. This is a very serviceable, nice looking simple keyboard/mouse set. I'd really like a little more precision in my mouse, but if this lasts longer than a couple of months, I'll be happy.
Logitech remote key board and mouse March 2, 2010 David R. Renegar (Texas) This is the second one of these combinations that I use. I really enjoy the flexibility these offer over the wired components. Connections between the PC and these components is always trouble free.
MK300 Good Price, Terrible Range March 2, 2010 S. Ogran (BIRMINGHAM, AL, US) I bought this wireless combo to go in my den area for my Samsung LCD/Media computer. I concluded that while it does not use a line-of-sight wireless technology, it appears to only work when the keyboard/mouse are in direct view of the receiver, and even then, at 8' it is unreliable. I'm sure this unit would be just fine if you are in close quarters but do not buy if you need more than a 8-10' reliable connection, you won't get it.
Generally good product, only 2 issues February 28, 2010 Jay Reynolds The product is good.
PROS
Mouse feels fine and is higher resolution than a standard optical mouse. The software is nice that you DONT have to install it unless you want the EXTRA FEATURES. Easy install. Software does not take up alot of CPU resources.
Wireless connection is 27 MHZ, range is rated 8 inches, mine actually works 3 feet away (perhaps because my batteries are new).
Overall seems rugged/durable. I would never purchase a keyboard without testing the 'feel'. This was the best 'wireless combo' choice amoung our local Staples, Office Max & Best Buy.
CONS
I dont like that they reorganized the key group involving [pgdwn pgup Delete Home DOWN] I am still not used to it.
I am not a fan of the the built in palm rest (rounded edge). It is not common on keyboards and laptops. I am still not used to it and it does effect the position of my hands, therefore my accuracy.
Overall, good product. Certainly does what it is advertised to do. I am just TOO picky about my keyboard. It's like trying to buy underwear for a friend. You never know how it works until you try it on.
