My Book Studio Edition WDH1Q10000 - Hard drive - 1 TB - external - FireWire / FireWire 800 / Hi-Speed USB / eSATA-300 is a great product built particularly for the computer users who needs to store a lot of huge files such as music or video files. Built sturdy and can hold 1 TB data and it's great feature is that you can use this hard drive just like the internal hard drives. I even bought the second of the same product because of my satisfaction with the first one.
Product was delivered fast even before the time I expected. Buying products from Amazon.com has always been a good experience to me.

This is the second of two drives. This drive failed but WD is replacing it under warranty. Love the multiple data options (Firewire, eSata and USB).

I bought this one to use on a mac. The firewire connection is nice and fast.
It was easy--plug and play. I thought I was going to get some security software with it, but I can't find it.

If you're into video or audio editing then avoid this product. It's slow and does not have the speed or man power to done with Final Cut or Logic Studio. It's has a low RPM and you need to trick the drive to turn it on. Meaning you have to plug in the adapter then the firewire for it to work properly in that specific or order.

I had a problem with the drive on my Mac dual g5. It would not stay mounted on the desk top. I called for help and was forwarded to level 2 support when the first level support could not help. The problem seem to be resolved by plugging the power transformer directly into the wall outlet rather then into a power strip. I think that they should supply a power transformer that is more robust. Other drives work fine with the power strip I used. The documentation on the drivers is nonexistent. The transfers on firewire 800 are fast and work well.
